Miles Tried Every Dog Park in Somerville and Cambridge – Here’s What He Thought
By Miles the Cavapoo (with a little help from the team at Tandem Vet)
Over the weekend, I (Miles, age 3, cavapoo, professional zoomie specialist) went on a mission to sniff out the best dog parks in Somerville and Cambridge. Here's my honest, treat-fueled review of each spot.
Address: 0 New Washington St, Somerville, MA 02143
Miles’ Take: Big space, lots of friendly dogs. Wood chips instead of grass, which is fine for paw traction but a little dusty. There's a small/shy dog section, which I appreciated when the big shepherd got the zoomies.
Final Rating: ★★★★☆
What the Internet Says:
“It’s the best one in Somerville. Big and usually friendly dogs.” – Reddit
“Wish it had more shade, but overall a good community vibe.” – Google Review
Address: 7 Vinal Ave, Somerville, MA 02143
Miles’ Take: Great view. Smaller space but super well-kept. Tends to attract local regulars. Gravel surface—not my favorite, but it’s clean.
Final Rating: ★★★☆☆
What the Internet Says:
“Great for smaller dogs. Gets crowded on weekends.” – Yelp
“People here are respectful and clean up after their dogs.” – Reddit
Address: 99 Sherman St, Cambridge, MA 02138
Miles’ Take: Huge! This one is more of a “dogs on leash, big field to roam” situation. Great for a post-vet walk. The real gem is the off-leash area near the back—gravel base, good fencing.
Final Rating: ★★★★☆
What the Internet Says:
“One of the largest open spaces in the city. Not technically a dog park but dog-friendly.” – Reddit
“Be aware of sports games nearby, it gets loud.” – Google Review
Address: 345 Sidney St, Cambridge, MA 02139
Miles’ Take: Smaller, urban feel. Gets packed during after-work hours. Loved the nearby coffee options.
Final Rating: ★★★☆☆
What the Internet Says:
“A little cramped, but good community.” – Yelp
“Bring your own water bowl.” – Google Review
Address: 106 Raymond St, Cambridge, MA 02140
Miles’ Take: More of a neighborhood vibe. Not always fenced in, so I had to stay close. Good for calm dogs.
Final Rating: ★★☆☆☆
What the Internet Says:
“Not really a dog park, but nice if your dog doesn’t need a fence.” – Reddit
Best for space: Danehy Park
Best for small/shy dogs: Zero New Washington
Best for socializing: Nunziato
Best if you want coffee nearby: Pacific Street
